Gary Musselman was the one who presented the Governor's Award to David Dennis on Thursday evening at Koch Arena. We had a nice visit. He told me that when he was going to school in Lawrence he worked at the Furniture Store run by Doris (Mrs. Warren) Thompson. Also his step-mother, Mrs. Paul Musselman is 97 and is living at the Ransom Rest Home.

Not only are basketball officials hard working, but sometimes they are called on to help senior citizens in distress. My sincere thanks to Danny Welsh of Weskan who came to my aid on Thursday. He was in Hays to officiate at the 1A basketball tournament and stopped by the car wash. Anyway, I poked a hole in my tire going through the car wash. It was flatter than a flitter when I drove out. He changed the tire. If any of you know him, say thank you for his kindness. He said they haven't gotten the generous moisture that we did, so I hope they did this last blast. Another fellow I am indebted to was the manager of the tire store in Hays. He got me on my way in short order. Thanks to both. Carolyn
Dennis Elias and Bobby Peters had a nice visit the other day in Hays VA administration building.

Bobby said he was coming to McCracken when the weather turned nice and stayed that way.

How many of you remember the old poems? I will remind you of a few. What about The Little Old Sod Shanty on my claim. Or Kansas Boys: Here is a little of that: Come, all young girls, pay attention to my noise, Don't fall in love with the Kansas boys, For if you do your portion it will be, Johnnycake and antelope is all you'll see.
