Zachary and Spring (Blackwell) Bentham's son is Braxdon Cruz Bentham born December 31, 2014 at 7:16 p.m. He weighed in at 7 pounds 9.3 ounces and was 19 and _ inches long. His big sister is Alliyah. They live in Dalzell, South Carolina. Zach is now deployed.

Our sympathy to the family of Twilla Lyon Combest Kraus, age 90, who died March 11, 2015 at Ransom. Her daughter Signe Barnes and husband G. T Barnes lives in rural McCracken. Other survivors are Shirley Stegman, Marie Ney and Bradley Kraus, 14 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Burial was in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Ransom.

Mary Ann Tanking has given pictures to the Jail/Museum. There is a large family picture of the J. B. Davis family taken December 25, 1908 and individual pictures of daughters, Lillian Davis, Opal Davis, Avis Davis, Ruby Davis, Lucille Davis; a picture of Avis Davis and her husband Roy Chapman; Ruth Suddarth, the daughter of Ruby Davis; a picture of the Oscar Lindblom home northwest of McCracken; and a country school picture with students including Elva Lindblom. In 1885 Oscar Lindblom had a section in 5-16-21 and a section in 9-16-21 Ness County. J. B. Davis had a quarter in 29-16-21 in 1892


If you didn’t make an effort to attend the fish fry at the American Legion in McCracken Friday evening, you really missed some good food. The fish was excellent as was the macaroni & cheese and cole slaw.

Dennis and Jamie Shell, Clinton, Tara and Blake Swan, Kansas City, Taylor Swan and Harlow, Denver were McCracken guests this weekend and they all attended the St. Pat’s celebration in Rush Center, Friday.

McCracken Grade basketball team forced LaCrosse into overtime Saturday night before losing 45-41 in the finals of the Grade School tournament held at Bison. McCracken lost four of their starting on fouls.

Schoenchen nudged McCracken 66-59 in the class BB district Tournament in Bison. Richard Higgins scored 23 points and Mike Peters 17.

New teachers for McCracken are Carolyn Deever, Sonja Conner, Laurel Woods, Guy Conner, Lorraine Norlin, Jeanette Meyer, Reginald Washaliski and Sharon Zier. G.T. Barnes will teach 7th grade in Alexander.

USD#395 set its first budget calling for a total levy 21.19 mils.

School will begin August 26, 1965. School lunches will run from 25 to 35 cents.

Mike Legleiter, Alicia Rues and Lynnette Legleiter read the most books during the summer reading program at the Public Library.
