McCracken Rodeo Trail Ride - All in Open range and by Smoky Hill River. Mark your calendars for Saturday, July 11, 2015. The ride will begin at 9:00 a.m. starting at Chetola Gold Road and Road 170. An Indian Doll collection has been donated to the Jail/Museum by Charlotte Ochs. The theme for this year at the Museum will be Indians, Cowboys and Western Heritage.

On Sunday, May 31st, Mary Steitz and Patricia Petz went to Hays. After a filling lunch at the Golden Corral, many shopping stops were made and then off to celebrate Kameron Petz's 9th birthday. An enjoyable time was spent at the Butterfield Inn with pizza, cake, and ice cream. Both grandmas opted out of the swimming in the pool. We forgot our swimming suits. Ooops!

On Saturday, May 30th, Patricia Petz along with De Wayne and Vicky Foos helped celebrate the wedding at St. Ann's Catholic Church at Olmitz for Ashley Moore and Matthew Moeder. Then a lovely evening was spent at the Convention Center in Great Bend.

On Friday, May 29th, Patricia Petz helped celebrate the wedding of Billie Hayes and James Humphrey. A very enjoyable afternoon and evening was spent at the City Auditorium in La Crosse. Billie was a former second grade student and also helped Pat as a teacher's aide when she was a senior in high school.

Trent, Angie, Tyler, Drake, and Grant Timson from McPherson spent the weekend visiting the cemeteries and staying at the farm with Grandma Pat. They met Grandma Mary Steitz and Patricia Petz on Sunday to visit the cemetery in La Crosse. A stop was made at the McCracken cemetery to see Grandpa Dan's new tombstone that was set right before his birthday in April. We met up with De. Wayne and Vicky Foos from La Crosse and they came out to the farm for an evening barbecue. An enjoyable evening was spent together. On Sunday, the family enjoyed the Military services conducted by the West-Burch American Legion Post 59.

After the services, everyone attended the luncheon at the City Building in McCracken. A lot of good food and visiting with friends completed the day in McCracken. Then we were off to the farm to see Grandma Dolores Petz. We were also able to visit with Maddy Petz from Buhler. Drake and Grant Timson and Brooklyn Petz exchanged birthday presents. Drake turned 5, Grant and Brooklyn just turned two years old. It was fun watching them play together.

Molly Knight , Hutchinson, graduated May 16 from KSU with a Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science Attending graduation were Barry, LeAnn & Jordon Knight, Shirley Bundy, Dave and Carolyn Davenport, Kathleen Thomas, Denise Fuller, Celeste Davis, Kelli Putman, Mason City Iowa, and other Knight relatives and Friends. Every one enjoyed a reception BBQ after graduation. Molly has an internship for 8 weeks with Bam bee Bakery (Sara Lee) in Indiana.

Bill and Sharon Lovitt returned home after attending the high school graduation of their granddaughter, Audra Hurd, daughter of Jeff and Kathy Hurd from Chanhassen High School, Chanhassen, MN. Others attending were Austin and Eric Hurd, Brad and Lori Lovitt, Phoenix; Scott, Lora and Clay Faiman, Columbia, Teresa Lovitt, Dodge City.

Nita Caviness spent a few days with her sister, Patricia Derr this past week before attending a family reunion in Jewel County accompanied by Patricia, Kerri Morgan and Debi Rogers.

Steven and Joann Goering, Auroa, CO were Kansas visitors this past week. They visited with Gerald and Linda Bittel and Shirley Higgins. Steven is the son of the late Helen Irvin.

Arline Rues is home and doing well after her surgery in Hays this past week. She has a lot of TLC.Jenna Higgins and her team mate Shayla DeGarmo were two of the 24 players in the state to play in the 6 A All Star volleyball game held at Washburn University in Topeka on Saturday, June 6. Jerry, Jodi, Tanner and Chuck Higgins were in attendance.

Adelia Miller, 70, Brookville, died Friday, June 5, 2015 in Salina Health Center. She married Robert Dean Miller, January 1, 1952. Survivors are her husband, a daughter, Marty and Tina Mills, a grandson and granddaughter. Cremation has been chosen.

Zach Higgins and friends attended the KC Royals/Texas Rangers baseball games in Kansas City this past weekend.

Nicole Tacha and Jordan Gamble, seniors at Springfield Catholic High School were among 50 athletes from Southwest Missouri, selected to play in the 2015 Sertoma, (Service to Mankind), GRIN ACTION CLASSIC All-Star Volleyball Tournament held Saturday, June 6. Teams representing Southwest Missouri's North, South, East, West and Springfield schools participated in the tournament. All games served to benefit the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, also known as the "Tooth Truck", a mobile dental clinic for at-risk kids who have no access to dental care in Southwest Missouri. (This senior class of 75 students was offered 7.4 million dollars in scholarships. Jordan Gamble has a scholarship to attend MIT)

Sarah Emerson was the guest of honor of her baby shower given by her sister, Rachel Legleiter and her mother Melanie Zeller. Those present were Rachel, Tessa, Lexi Legleiter of Olathe, Melanie Zeller of McCracken, Julia Zeller, La Crosse. Ruth Axman, Hope Ney, Deb Reif of Hoisington, Karen Emerson, Aimee, Jayla, and Kiera Wyant of Great Bend, Kathy Rossman, Albert, April and Chyanne Dienes of Otis. Karen Norris, St John, Lisa Gamber, Valley Center, Lindsey Ney, Casandra, and Camden Ochs of Wichita, Carla, Elizabeth, and Megan of Hays and Paulette Harp of Ellis. Games were played; ice cream sundaes, cupcakes and punch were served. Fun was had by all.

Lance, Rachel, Haydn, Tessa, and Lexi Legleiter, Kiel and Sarah Emerson were weekend guests of John and Melanie Zeller.
