Our sympathy to the family of Lenora Stremel, 93, Hutchinson, who died July 6, 2015 . She was the daughter of Alois and Dorothy Basgall Urban. She married Celestine Stremel May 3, 1941 in Loretto. They moved to McCracken in 1943. Survivors are four daughters, Shirley Bundy and Carolyn Davenport, Kathleen Stremel Thomas and Lanette Stremel Kaster; a brother LeRoy Urban, five grandchildren 13, great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Lenora was a devoted member of her church and a wonderful friend. She had a talent for cooking and baking and making wedding cakes and birthday cakes. Inurnment will be in McCracken City Cemetery following services at St. Mary's Catholic Church in McCracken.

A week ago last Thursday as Cindy Rogers was coming home, she saw a pack of coyotes near KBK on 96 Highway.

Melvin Dale (Bob) Rhoades, 92, was born November 17, 1922 in Kansas City, Missouri. He died in Wichita, Kansas May 14, 2015. He was the adopted son of Otho (Dusty) Rhoades and Ida Saindon. He resided many years in McCracken before moving to Hutchinson. He married Betty Nowles on December 11, 1976. She died December 3, 1991. Services and internment was held July 11, 2015 at McCracken City Cemetery beside his wife and his father. He had many friends who met daily at McDonald's, in Hutchinson for breakfast and lunch. He was in an accident near his home when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree, it rolled and he was partially ejected. He was a U. S. Army veteran.

The Rodeo Trail Ride had 18 riders and three Gators (fully loaded). The riders rode with Buffalo, Deer, a mother hawk with two fuzzy little chicks and Angus Cattle, up in the hills in the Open Range and then picnicked down by the Smoky River in the shade. It lasted three hours. Lynn wants to thank everybody for helping and participating. It will probably be in the same area next year only a little west of this year. Lynn's co-organizer is John Ficken.

Robert Peters was the winner of the sunflower table runner at McCracken Jail/Museum made by Mark Horchem and given by Roy and Phyllis Conrad.

Matt Pechanec came with Jerry and Pam...They enjoy coming to McCracken and cannot believe how dry the area looks, of course they have had all kinds of rain in KC.

Jean Oelkers guests during the Gathering of the Leopards weekend were her son Galen Oelkers and granddaughter Lillian, Atlanta.

Monday I noticed a pickup with the front tires over the curb on south Main, I hope they heard about a forecast for a ‘big’ rain...a gully washer for McCracken.

Jerry, Tammy, John, Chuck, Tanner, Joe, Brodie, Chad, Zach, Danton, Brady, Eddie, Ryan, Kyra, Bryant, Courtney, Cameron, Jenna, Melissa, Savannah, Baylee, Molly, Nicole, Jessika, and Lucas were w/e guests of Shirley.

Dominic and Kayla Weskamp spent Sunday night with Shirley on their way home from Colorado.

Joe Higgins and Ryan were guests of his parents, Martin and Mary Ann Higgins in McCracken during rodeo weekend.

The 40th reunion of the class of 1975 met at the home of Debi and Myron Schuckman Saturday afternoon. Those attending were: Debi Baus Schuckman, Greg Hinman, Nancy Higgins Wiebe, James Unrein, Rob McGaughey, Sherry Petz, Rose Rues Diehl, Jerry Higgins, Linda Sloan Dale, and Fritz Foster. Those unable to attend were Sally Buster Buster, Kent Brown, Donald Casey, Richard Conrad, Bill Greenway, Allen Kober, Gary Schuckman, Julie Seltman Huxman. Deceased members are Mike Moran and Glen Ryan.

Pat Petz hosted a Magnetic Show this past weekend in Garden City. She was accompanied by Mary Steitz and Viola Enslinger, LaCrosse to Scott City where they visited with Mary’s cousin Cindy Unrein. They had a fantastic time visiting and shopping. After Pat dropped them off at the homes Saturday, she attended the McCracken Rodeo and visited with many friends.

Weekend guests at the home of Ron and Cathy Rues Casey were Alex, Catherine and John Rues, Tim Rues, KathleenWallace, Tom Rues .

An alumni meeting was held after the lunch at the Community Building on Saturday, those attending were G.T. Barnes, Jay and Maureen Georg, Tammy Irvin, Layne & Kerri Morgan,Debi Derr, Shirley Higgins, Patty Johnson, Lanette and David Kaster. Another meeting is planned for Memorial Day weekend.
