Gloria Baus Blackwell and Shirley Higgins met at their former drive ways Wednesday evening, reminisced and talked about 'everything'. It was so good to see her. It has been a long, long time.

Drew Davis and his band from Nashville, TN, that played at the Rush Co. Fair spent some time recently with Bruce & Ellen Kershner, Clayton & Addie. Drew, Myles, Aaron and Chandler loved it here so much, after the Ness County Fair, instead of going to Kansas City and coming back to the Rush Co. Fair, (2weeks later), they hung out at the Lodge and took in the sites. While they were here, they played at Kearny, NE for 2 days, Hugoton, KS, LaCrosse, KS at the Cozy Tavern, Clayton even played with them there! Hays, Kansas at the Stadium Club and at a private party in Ness City, Kansas. Lots of practice concerts and fun times were had by all. Some of the band had never.....shot a gun, worked cattle, went fishing or saw stars in the night sky. We take so much for granted. Great memories were made and hopefully the boys will be back again.

I had a memory lapse. On the little article about the Kansas City friends coming to McCracken, they love the Rush County Fair. They have 'kids' and 'grandkids' and they say it is so safe at the fair. They have been coming the last 2-3 years.

A BBQ was held at the home of Aaron, Lesley, Lillian and Jack McGaughey in LaCrosse Saturday evening. Both his/her parents were in attendance along with family and friends from LaCrosse, Rush Center, McCracken, and Lillian's gymnastic friend and her family from Hays.

Audrey Irvin, Crissa Irvin, Graycie Legleiter & friend Clover attended the Taylor Swift concert in Wichita this week. Dena and Sandy Irvin were the chauffeurs. Donna Schmidt accompanied them and visited her daughter, Clay & Megan Morse and Jaylen. They all were overnight guests of the Morses'

Those who helped mow the St. MARY'S CEMETERY THIS WEEK WERE Hoop & Twila Higgins, Bet McCormick, Don Bergquist and Roy & Phyllis Conrad. A job well done and very much appreciated. God bless all.

Jeff & Julia McCormick were on an island this past week. Water surrounded their house on all sides. Thankfully the water didn't get inside. Julia was out and about Sunday, Jerry saw her at Dillons!!

Annette Chestnut, Colby and Kaitlyn, came to Kansas on Wednesday and returned to Headland, Alabama on Sunday. She spent time with her sisters Ellen & Bruce Kershner & family Rush Center, Cheryl & Pete Werth & family, Hays and brother Bruce & Susan Davis and Bob House, of McCracken. Grandpa Bob House just waited for the kids to tell him where to go and what to do next. hehe Aunt Addie Mills, McCracken, Uncle Donnie Schuckman's, girls and children were also additional guests of the festivities. Grandpa loves to see all of his kids and grandkids come and LOVES to see them go. What a sport he is! A fun time was had by all!

We received a pin and matching earrings from Pauline Misegadis for the McCracken Museum. She said it was from her parents, Charles & Margaret (Maggie) Hemingway (1943) who bought the McCracken hotel. They moved from the farm south of Rush Center. There was a Millinery Shop on the north side of the hotel and the lady asked her to choose something, she chose the pin and earrings. Her parents then bought a farm north of McCracken from a man named North. Charles & Eernest Hemingway (author)

were 1st cousins. She had one daughter, she was an aunt to Freida Renz (Otto) of Rush Center. Otto was called Doc.
Tanner and Jenna Higgins spent 4-5 days in Table Rock as guests of Phil and Connie McNaul.

How about those Kansas City Royals??????

Rain facts from the Hutchinson news

One inch of rain over a square mile equals 17.38 million gallons of water.

At one inch per square mile, the Hutchinson area of 22.75 square miles would receive 395,395,000 gallons of water. They received 8.16 inches of rain from August 2 to August 8 resulting in 3.23 billion gallons of water. Give us SOME of that for western Kansas…..
