In the Hampton History Book it mentions that the children of William and Jerry Curtis were among the first students to go to the Hampton school. William and Celinda Hannah Curtis had sons, Wesley, Absolam, William Wallace, Albert, Samuel and Matthew, and the daughter mentioned above Grace Celinda. Howard Barnard was the schoolmaster. The older boys, Ab, Wally and Wes, all made the rush in the Oklahoma land run, each acquiring land, marrying and raising families there. William Henry died on his wife's birthday, September 28,1892. and is buried in the Hampton cemetery with a military headstone.( Twelve days after he died his last son was born - Matthew). Celinda filed for his widow's pension, then with the younger children moved down to Oklahoma to be closer to the rest of the family.

Brandon has always loved the show "Dukes of Hazards" so Brandon's birthday cake was made like the 1970 Dodge Charger car which was on the show. What a cake! The tires and hub caps looked almost real and the windshield had a windshield wiper ( only one) just like t sand. The lady from LaCrosse that makes these cakes does a super wonderful job. Also attending the party was Don & Helen Peach, LaCrosse, and Earl & Marybeth Prather from Pennsylvania.
