My philosophy is to elect people to office and then let them do their job, however, I cannot in good conscience be silent any longer regarding the west part of the McCracken - Liebenthal road. The situation is that there is an accident in the making. The road is so full of potholes, that by dodging them, you are put at risk of hitting a car coming from the opposite direction or you may try to avoid the pothole and cause you to lose control and roll into the ditch. If nothing is going to be done to rectify this situation you must post a sign for those from out-of-county that reads, “Travel at your own risk”. I can see law suits looming. Can you in good conscience avoid this issue. The road from the Liebenthal turn off to the Nichol Cemetery is good, but from there to the stop sign is the problem. Carolyn Thompson

Opal Jean Temple Mills writes about Hampton in the Hampton History Book. All four of the Temple girls attended Hampton all eight years of our school days. Dad was on the school board for several years. Vera Mullen Cunningham was my teacher for three or four years. My Dad, Basil Temple, tore down the old school house and some of the old lumber is still in the barn.

Memories of Hampton: We made a cave in the bank of the creek. The teacher would sometimes let us eat our lunch in there. We as kids thought it was lots of fun. We also had fun putting on Christmas programs for parents and neighbors, plus box suppers. Someone would buy your box and eat with you. My mother, Esda (Carman) Temple ws a teacher at Hampton.
