John S. Cave (Bart's father) and five other Southern men from Lone Jack, Jackson County, Missouri were taken prisoner and massacred by Redlegs/Jayhawker Union soldiers. An obelisk to these men where they were buried in a mass grave is near the Lone Jack Battlefield.
