Angela Murray has given a picture to the Jail/Museum that belonged to her mother, Doris Schafer, of the 1928 students at Thistle Grove.

We are so grateful for the expertise of heart doctors this week. They treated Chris Ault and Roy Conrad and returned them home to us. These men are truly a vital part of our community.

Santa delivered sacks of candies and nuts to the elderly in our community who couldn't attend the festivities at the City Building on Saturday. Our thanks to the firemen and community leaders who do so much for us.

We received two boxes of items for the Jail/Museum from Gary and Elaine Turner in Loveland. The items included three plates: a 1910 J. P. Warden Calendar Plate. He sold Hardware, Stoves, Graniteware and Implements in McCracken, Kansas; a 1915 Calendar Plate from S. R. Walker, McCracken, Kansas; and a Rush County, Kansas Centennial plate 1874-1974 with the Rush County Court House on it. It also had a centennial seal along with the words, Barb Wire, Post Rock Capital of the World and two wheat stocks; seven cooking utensils and two knives from The Rush County Elevator Company, Inc.; a leather pennant with the Fort Hays Tiger on it with letters KSTC, Hays; an Addie Pray book by Joe David Brown and two Paper Moon paperback books with pictures of Ryan and Tatum O'Neal on them; a black pouch for your grain tickets from The Farmers Elevator of McCracken, Kansas; The other items will be listed next week. There is one special item in the second box.

Congrats to #KStateVB's Kersten Kober, the program's first student-athlete to be named Big 12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year! Kersten has a perfect 4.0 grade pt; she is a 2 time academic all big 12 first team honoree; sits 8th in K-State record book for 1,126 digs. Congrats Kersten.

Brenda Rosenlund came on November 30 to help her mom Elaine Littler while she recuperated from knee surgery. She cooked, cleaned, helped with therapy, drove Elaine to therapy, took care of her dad and anything else we needed. She returned to her home in Scott City on Friday December 11. We hated to see her go, but her husband Carl was really missing her!!!!

Shirley Higgins met Carolyn Oller for lunch in Great Bend on Thursday.

Austin McGaughey hit a deer by the home of Bob and Charmaine Wolfe....ruined his car. We think the deer was coming to look at the Christmas lights.

Oh my, I was so sick Saturday evening, sorry guys but I blamed it on the soup I ate at the supper. In reading on Facebook I find that everyone has the flu. Goodness, don’t want to wish that on anyone especially the little guys.
What a wonderful Christmas gift we received Saturday night, 2.40 inches in rain and snow. What a blessing.
Drew and Nicole VonLehe arrived at their new home in Montana. What a wonderful experience. We all wish them the best.

Grade School football team members are: Larry Buster, Craig Rixon, Joe Conner, J.D.Bell, Jim Dome, Mark Baus, Leslie Rogers, James Webs, Mike Conner, Don Phillips, Larry Hinman, Layne Morgan, Tom Rues, Shannon McKinney, Marty Mills, Jerry Casey, Freddy Taylor and Coach Wayne Wahlmeier. McCracken Mustangs defeated Bazine 35-12 in football. It was Casey vs. Casey as 5 cousins battled it out, 3 for McCracken and 2 for Bazine. John Zeller is a student at the Vo-Tech School in Goodland. 1,087 Rush Countians receive Social Security benefits. This amounts to $115,000.00 monthly. MHS Homecoming was held with Lorrie Morgan Queen and Daryl Casey King. Attendants were Betty Moran, Lonnie Irvin, Cathie Ryan and David Wetzel. Vic Parsons left for his pre-induction physical. The ground-breaking ceremony was held for the LaCrosse Furniture Company. The first Rural Water District in Rush County was organized in McCracken. Chairman is Robert Janke; vice-chairman, Bob Derr; secretary-treasurer, Mac Showalter and committee members; Arlyn North and Franklin Littler. Jimmy Conrad is assigned to the USS Protius as a grogman. Alexander Grade School will present a musical program “Hansel and Gretel”. The Gingerbread boys are Neal Jacobs, Doug Elias, Mike Stull, Kevin Casey, Chris Petz, Kirk Rixon, Chris Jones, Tony Rues, Carl Dome, Richard Frick and Chad Herdman. (picture in our Mc History Book). Rich Higgins has been named as the Sports editor for The Leader, the Ft. Hays newspaper.
